Rice University To-Do’s

Since it’s Rice Week here at Inner Loop Living, and you could write a whole blog about the place, I thought I’d share some of the great things to do ON CAMPUS at Rice University. After all, we can’t all be learning superstars, right? You don’t have to be a Rice alum to still enjoy the beautiful campus, community, and events.

If you’re a sports fan, you’ll enjoy having Rice University nearby. It’s a heavy duty school, there’s no confusing that. But it also has an NCAA athletics program. Whether it’s football, basketball, or baseball, don’t forget to support the Rice Owls and catch a few games at Rice Stadium. However, the program is best known in Texas for baseball. Go Owls!

If you’re more of a theater/music buff, there’s no better place to soak up the arts than Rice University. The Shepherd School of Music is nationally known as a prestigious music education program. Students in the program give regular performances and ticket sales are open to the public. The school also features well-known performers and musicians for fundraising concerts and events.

Rice also has regular lectures, seminars, and presentations that are open to the public. You can sit in on these special series and share the same oxygen with leaders in your field of interest. They even take place in the summer, giving you an excuse to get out of the heat! You’ll also find student art and professional art exhibition at the Rice gallery.

Check the Rice University Events Calendar regularly to see what’s coming up. You can filter the calendar based on the type of event you’re interested using the side bar at the left.

Getting married? Rice University is one of the most popular settings for bridal and engagement photos. If you’re photographer is from Houston, they probably already know this. If they don’t, you might want to look for a different photographer?? No really, Rice campus is beautiful and perfect for photographs. You can also take a tour of the campus if you want to check it out.
