Spec’s Liquor – Midtown

Spec’s in Midtown

With Thanksgiving just a week away, I have food on the brain. I’m sure this state of mind will dissolve next Thursday the moment I throw my fork down in surrender. But in the meantime, I’m consumed (ha! consumed!) by all the yumminess headed my way.

It’s times like these when I head over to Spec’s Liquor in Midtown, a giant Mecca of a liquor store that is anything but a liquor store. This is a liquor warehouse, a store so large the clerks log miles on their roller skates on any given day. Yes, they’re on roller skates. And, yes, they know almost anything you’d ever want to know about “spirits.”

Spec’s can be overwhelming for someone looking for a bottle of Jose or a case of Bud Light. But when you need a bottle of something off the beaten path, like maybe a Pinot Noir champagne or obscure flavored vodka, well, Spec’s is the place. They literally have everything you could ever want or need, and then some. They have a huge wine selection, fine liquors and beer for almost every occasion and palette.

And if that weren’t enough, they have food, too. Spec’s is the one-stop-shop for your next wine and cheese party, with their gourmet deli and giant selection of fine foods. You’ll also see a pretty nice selection of cigars if that your thing.

Rare is the liquor store that invites you to kick back and stay awhile. One of their gourmet sandwiches is enough to level a large man. And after one trip down the sample aisle, you won’t have a choice but to park it. A trip to Spec’s is an event in itself. So be sure to leave plenty of time after you trip to recover!

If you’re looking for that perfect wine to compliment your Thanksgiving feast, unforgettable snacks and hors d’ouvres, or a special liquor for a fancy cocktail, Spec’s is the one place in town where you’re guaranteed to find what you need. If Spec’s isn’t already on your radar, it should be now!
