Beck’s Prime: Deliciously Fast

Whoever thinks fast food has to be disgusting, tasteless, food-like nastiness has clearly never been to Becks Prime. Becks puts every other fast food chain on the planet to shame. And anyone who gets a coveted taste of one of their famous burgers is fated to become a loyal customer. It’s the plight of every Houstonian.

Becks has come to my rescue more than once when I was out and about in Houston and really wanted a good meal but didn’t have the time or inclination to commit to a fancy, sit down restaurant. Becks has the casualness of a fast-food place but with more atmosphere and even better food.

The menu has delicious hearty salads, sandwiches, thick-cut french fries, and, of course, the Becks Prime burger, which is rumored to be the best in the loop, in Houston, and quite possibly the world. You decide. But Becks takes fast food to a whole new level. Where else can you find an expertly cooked 16-oz Texas rib eye? I’m pretty sure they don’t have that on the golden arches menu.

Becks is also a Houston original. The first Becks opened on Kirby in 1985 and they’ve been winning over burgers lovers left and right ever since. The food is fresh-tasting and delicious and a welcome treat when you just can’t stand the thought of eating whatever’s been sitting under the heat lamp. If you’re new to Houston, Becks is your right of passage. Get there. And the sooner the better.
