The New Happy Hour

Happy hour serves two functions in Houston: an excuse to socialize with friends and something to do while waiting for the traffic to clear out. There is definitely some comfort in visiting the same places over and over again. But sometimes, you want to try something new.

Our favorite, CultureMap Houston, recently published an exciting list of awesome happy hour deals at some of Houston’s hippest spots. Washington’s newly popular J. Black’s and West Ave’s Saint Genevieve both made the list. But you can also check out these cool drink specials:

Piola in Midtown has an awesome Tuesday night special. Glasses of wine and prosecco are just $2.95 after 7 pm on Tuesday for ladies only. Share a pizza (I recommend the Odessa) and a few glasses of wine for a perfect girls night.

Boheme Cafe and Wine Bar knows how to bring the weekend to an epic close. Sometimes it feels like the week starts on Sunday afternoon, when you’re already dreading the Monday work day. But Boheme offers happy hour specials all day Sunday and all day Monday. Sometimes the new week just needs a little help.

Monica Pope’s T’afia is in the midst of a renewal: she’s tearing out the old space and will return in a few weeks with a whole new concept. T’afia regulars are seriously hoping she will bring back the special that made her Lounge a favorite: three complimentary, individual appetizers for every cocktail – anytime. We’ll have to wait to find out! (Update: Pope announced the new restaurant as Sparrow Bar + Cookshop! Renovations are still in play, but she is open for business.)

What are some of your favorite happy hour spots that didn’t make CultureMap’s list?
